Britney Spears Beginnings
Britney has always been a natural entertainer singing and dancing for anyone who would watch. As a young child she sang in the church choir and often expressed her dreams of being a star to her friends and family. Her parents knew they had a special child on their hands and decided to support and nurture an obvious talent.
At the tender age of eight Britney auditioned for the Mickey Mouse Club. She was too young to be considered at the time however a Disney producer hooked her up with an agent in Hollywood and before long she could be seen in commercials and off-Broadway shows like Ruthless.
Star Search Britney performed on Star Search in 1992 when she was eleven years old. Her parents saw this as an opportunity for Britney to get the exposure she needed to jumpstart her career in show business. It wouldn't work out the way she and her parents had hoped as she was beat out by 12-year-old Marty Thomas who scored higher then her.
Marty was shocked, he was sure Britney was going to win. Marty went on to star in television roles and perform at Radio City Music Hall. Losing to Marty on Star Search was certainly not the end of her career. She learned from each of her experiences both good and bad and kept working harder to get recognized.
Mickey Mouse Club At eleven years old Britney earned a spot in the Mickey Mouse Club. She spent two years alongside co-mousketeers such as Felicity's Keri Russell, Cristina Agulara, and 'N Sync members Justin Timberlake and JC Chasez. In 1994 the show was cancelled and the stars of the Mickey Mouse Club went on to pursue other avenues of show business.
Music Industry Dangers Britney's parents were concerned about the dangers and pitfalls that came along with being a child star but felt their daughter had the support and the love she needed to endure anything.
Former teen pop idols such as Tiffany and Debbie Gibson were sensations one moment and history the next. Many child and teen stars cast out of the entertainment industry suffer from alcohol and drug addictions as a result of shattered confidence and depression.
Britney's Values Britney stays grounded in spite of being one of the most popular pop artists around the globe by keeping her attitude in check. She's still the same sweet girl who entered the business who has only gotten wiser as a result of her fame. She knows that her family and friends are the ones who love her and have her best interests at heart.
"God gave me talent to be on stage. I know I have it in me and I can't just dismiss it. I want to conquer to world." Britney
